Probation Holds

A new state law requires that if a student is on probation for two consecutive semesters, students will lose their enrollment priority and a 'PRB' hold will be placed on their subsequent enrollments.

  1. If you are enrolled for Summer, we wish you success, however, you will still have a "PRB" hold for your Fall enrollment.
  2. If you have also been Dismissed, you must follow the directions given in any communications regarding dismissal.
  3. You have lost the ability to use your Fall enrollment appointment. An assigned enrollment appointment in the "Student Center" should appear but you will not be able to use it. If your situation meets the criteria to appeal your loss of enrollment priority, you may submit an "ENROLLMENT PRIORITY APPEALS PETITION". Read the criteria on the petition carefully as these are the only reasons that will be considered. Documentation supporting your appeal must be attached. If applicable, you may submit this petition at the same time as your "Petition for Re-admission". Keep in mind that you may be re-admitted to Cerritos but your petition to appeal your enrollment loss may be denied. If your enrollment loss appeal is denied, you may enroll during "open" enrollment which begins approximately one week before the start of the semester. If it is approved, you may enroll on or after the appointment which appears in the "student center" link in the portal.

If you choose not to enroll for Fall

  1. You are eligible to return in Spring term or any subsequent term. Upon return, you will be a continuing Probation student.
  2. When you choose to return, you must submit an Admissions Application as a RE-ADMIT student. Spring applications will be accepted beginning September 1.
  3. Upon return you will not regain your enrollment priority. When enrollment appointments are assigned, you will see an appointment but you will not be able to use it. If your situation meets the criteria to appeal your loss of enrollment priority, you may submit an "ENROLLMENT PRIORITY APPEALS PETITION". Read the criteria on the petition carefully as these are the only reasons that will be considered. Documentation supporting your appeal must be attached. If your enrollment loss appeal is denied, you may enroll during "open" enrollment which begins approximately one week before the start of the semester. If it is approved, you may enroll on or after the appointment which appears in the "student center" link in the portal.
  4. The number of units into which you can enroll will continue to be limited based on your last gpa and/or completion rate.
  5. You may apply to and attend another community college for the fall semester. Upon return, submit the Cerritos Admissions Application as a Re-admit student and bring sealed, official transcripts of any earned credit from the other school.
