Message from the Dean of Counseling

Dear New Student:
Congratulations! Cerritos College, the community college of choice, welcomes you.
This letter is your special invitation to attend an Orientation workshop for our Spring
2009 semester. As a new student, you must have many questions about starting your
college career and this workshop is designed to:
- acquaint you with policies & procedures (Do’s and Don’ts)
- make your first term with us more enjoyable & productive (meeting other students)
- help plan your classes for the Spring 2009 semester by meeting with a counselor
- receive an earlier enrollment date
In order to attend a workshop you must complete two steps:
Step 1--You must complete an assessment test in math and either English and reading
or ESL.
From, Monday, November 3rd to Friday, January 16th Assessment Testing will be by appointment ONLY. To schedule an appointment please call (562) 860-2451 ext. 2599 or 2364. To take the test you must have the following (1) A Cerritos College Student ID Number and (2) A form of picture I.D. You may visit the Career Services’ website for an updated schedule of testing at https://www.cerritos.edu/assessment-center/
Step 2--Make an appointment today for the Orientation workshop of your choice.
There are two ways to make an appointment, by phone or on the Internet. You may call
the counseling desk (562-860-2451, ext. 2231) today, and schedule the orientation
workshop that works for you. If the Internet is more convenient, go to cms.cerritos.edu/counseling/orientation/, select a workshop and complete the online form. Please refer to the list of possible
dates and times of orientation workshops on the back of this page. If you are not
available during these workshops you may also complete an online new student orientation
at www.cerritos.edu/counseling. Note: Completion of the Assessment tests is still required.
