Film Student Wins Award at Final Cut Pro Global Summit
Thirteen film students attended the Final Cut Pro Global Summit at the Universal City Hilton Hotel. Student Roberto Hoyos won the 24-hour completion category in which participants shoot and edit a short film in 24 hours.

Student Leaders Visit State Capitol
Student leaders had the opportunity to attend the annual Community College League of California (CCLC) Legislative Conference from January 29-30 in Sacramento. They toured the State Capitol, met with several elected officials, and participated in advocacy efforts along with Dr. Fierro and board members. Thank you for representing the students of Cerritos College!

To tackle the persistent problem of student homelessness, Cerritos College is seeking state grant funding to build affordable on-campus student housing through the Higher Education Student Housing Grant Program.

College Receives $480K Grant to Expand Registered Nurse Training Program
The Cerritos College Nursing Department has received a $480,000 Song-Brown Program Registered Nurse Education Program Award grant from the California Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI) to update the skills lab for the Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program.

Cerritos College Celebrates Another Record-Breaking Year With Largest Graduating Class
Cerritos College once again shattered its own graduation record, having conferred the largest number of degrees and certificates awarded in the campus’ history. During its 65th annual commencement ceremony held on Friday, May 19, the College conferred more than 6,200 degrees and certificates.

The California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office officially approved a new Bachelor of Science degree program in Dental Hygiene at Cerritos College. Over a Thousand Students Join Welcome Day
The campus welcomed students to the fall 2023 semester at Welcome Day on Monday, August 14. Welcomed by President/Superintendent Dr. Jose Fierro, nearly 1,500 new and returning students enjoyed free lunch, giveaways, and games while getting connected with all campus resources and services.

More than 300 faculty and staff members gathered in the Performing Arts Center to celebrate the 2023-24 academic year with the Convocation on August 31.

Asm. Blanca Pacheco Presents $782K to Cerritos College to Expand Child Development Center
Cerritos College received $782,000 in state funding from Assemblymember Blanca Pacheco on Tuesday, September 26, to support the expansion of Cerritos College’s Norwalk Child Development Center (CDC). The funding is essential to increase the existing capacity of the Child Development Center.

Falcon Day: Campus invests in success for students and employees
Human Resources hosted the annual Falcon Day, a one-day professional development opportunity for all faculty, classified/confidential staff, and managers on November 3. Employees bonded while learning and discussing how to best support our students, how to self-care, and how to invest in our careers around this year's concept Invest in Success. President Fierro moderated the VP panel where employees asked questions over lunch provided by the culinary arts program.

The second annual Community Meet and Greet rings in holiday cheer
On Saturday, December 2, community members gathered on campus for a photo opportunity with Santa and the campus mascot Franco Falcon, a train ride, a ceramics demonstration, a Charlie Brown Christmas music performance, arts and crafts, games, and refreshments.
