CTE Teaching Career Webpage

CTE Teacher TRAC has four pathways to help you become a Teacher in Automotive Technology, Welding Technology, or Woodworking Technology in either the High School or College Level. Below is the pathways for teaching at these two levels along with the Minimum Requirements for each level.

Teaching at the High School Level:

Demonstration by a Cerritos College Student to High School StudentsDesignated Subjects Credential
(Minimum Requirements)

  1. Obtain a High School Diploma or GED

  2. Take & Pass a U.S. Constitution Course OR Pass Examination to show proficiency.

  3. Show proof of 5 Years (or more) of Work Experience

  4. Join & Complete the Credential Program at ROP.

Single Subject Teaching Credential
(Minimum Requirements)

  1. Complete (60 Transferrable Units) at Cerritos College

  2. Transfer to CSULA & Obtain a Bachelor's Degree

  3. Join & Complete the Credential Program at CSULA.

Teaching at the Community College Level:

(Minimum Requirements)

  1. Complete Certificate of Achievement

  2. Complete General Education requirements at Cerritos College & Complete your A.A. Degree

  3. Show proof of 6 Years (or more) of Work Experience

Bachelor's Degree &
2 Years of Work Experience

(Minimum Requirements)

  1. Complete (60 Transferrable Units) at Cerritos College

  2. Transfer to CSULA & Obtain a Bachelor's Degree

  3. Complete 2 Years of Work Experience
